About the Page

This section is more about why I made a page in itself rather than what the page is about. I have been using the internet since I gained consciousness. I have seen the evolution of websites with my own eyes. I remember playing flash games on Friv.com and Nitrome (My favorite game from that era is Cave Chaos, great music too). I have always loved the simple aesthetic of early 2000's pages.

When I was around 7-8, my school decided to give me a position of power like no other: "coding" the school's blog in blogspot. Every week, they would take me out of one class per week and put me in this cool room with a computer for me to work on it. I guess my interest in websites could be seen from a mile away. Also, my dad is an electronic engineer, and would show me how to do simple things in Arduino, like turning some leds on and off. We even built a 3x3x3 cube of leds which we controlled, it was pretty neat.

But being realistic, at that time I didn't care much. I was still a kid and these things felt like tasks more than hobbies, even if they had rewarding endings. But it did shape how I looked at technology and computers and whatnot. I was also furiously fascinated with memes. I did not just enjoy them, I studied them too. I wanted to know when each meme came to be, why, and how. The most normie thing you could get your hands on.

Surprisingly though, I am not a fan of online communication. I am very sociable in real life, but something about the internet and being able to talk with strangers has never sat right with me. I guess the Stranger Danger thing really got into my mind. I never engaged in forums about anything. I never commented on Youtube videos or Reddit, I never talked to communities about the same topics I liked. I have never talked to strangers through Discord servers, and I didn't even have Amino when back in the day it was the most famous fandom app.

And trust me, I should have had it, I was - and am - a fan of creepypastas. I think it's one of the greatest things the internet has done. Anyways, I'm going off topic. This website is my first real interaction with strangers on the internet. I may have talked to people online, but on a one to one person basis, not a group, not a public voice. It's the perfect combination of years of wanting to try to code something for myself out of fun, being nostalgic over the personal websites you could find back in the day, and an attempt to open myself in a safe way to the online world.

If you're thinking about making a page but don't know where to start, then you're just like me. The only thing I did was find something I truly wanted to talk about, and then it was just finding templates and structures for websites on the internet and changing some things here and there for my personal interests.

People on this website say "I'm not good at coding so everything here is not great" and then I am baffled by how beautiful their websites look. I am not that guy. When I say I don't know how to code, I mean it. Find tools that make it easier for you. Do one single, easy thing per day if you need to. Find it rewarding to try, not exhausting. You might not be the greatest coder on the planet, but if you have a story to tell, don't let the code be the thing that pulls you back.
